The Museum of Regional History of the Association for Regional History in the municipality of Scharbeutz in Pönitz documents the history of the southern Wagrien region between Lübeck and Neustadt in Holstein. Historical and ethnological artefacts from this region from the Middle Stone Age (5000 BC) to the present day are collected, preserved, restored and presented and you will find evidence from past eras of village cultural history, finds from prehistoric and early historical settlement sites, the history of spa tourism and spa architecture through to the war and post-war period.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, it regularly organises special exhibitions on historical themes. There is also an archive and an extensive library on the top floor of the museum.
Events and lectures take place in the lecture theatre. The association was awarded the 2017 Ostholstein District Culture Prize.
Historical and folkloristic artefacts from the East Holstein region dating from the Middle Stone Age (7000 BC) to the present are collected, preserved, restored, and presented in the Museum of Regional History. Discoveries from past eras of the town’s cultural history are also on display.
