Description
The „Museum Rade“ presents the collections of the writer and ethnologist Rolf Italiaander. Visitors can see traditional art from all over the world. Central topics are masks, sculptures and modern art from Africa and the Pacific region. Other sections show an extensive collection from Bali, other Asian countries and Latin America. In addition, paintings by contemporary artists as well as by German and European naïve painters are exhibited. Rolf Italiaander and his partner Hans L. Spegg opened the “Museum Rade” in the Oberalster national park in 1970. Both established the “Rolf Italiaander/Hans L. Spegg collection” in 1983. It comprises more than 2.000 paintings, sculptures and objects of art. Since 1987 the collection is housed in a “Gründerzeit” villa in Reinbek.
Since 2018, Rolf Italiaander's ethnological collection has been on display at Reinbek Castle.
