Description
The "Künstlermuseum Heikendorf – Kieler Förde" (artists’ museum Heikendorf – Kieler Förde) exists since September 2000. Responsible body is the "Heinrich-Blunck-Stiftung" (Heinrich Blunck foundation). The historical Blunck studio house, Teichtor 9 (two-storied brick-building, mid-19th century), was renovated and preserved in its historical substance. The aim of the museum is to collect and open to the public the works of members of the artists’ colony Heikendorf as well as of other well-known artists who worked in the region. The permanent gallery in the former studio building shows the work of representatives from late Impressionism to the end of Expressionism in the post-war era. The newly built exhibition hall also serves for themed changing exhibitions of contemporary artists. In the lithographic workshop on the ground floor of the Blunck house the ca. 100-year-old lithographic printing press of Heinrich Blunck is used again on fixed dates. Art historical explanations of the works shown in the exhibitions are given by appointment. During the summer month there are expert guided tours of the lovingly designed museum garden. It unites the old and the new building to an appropriate harmonious ensemble.
