Beschreibung
With over 25,000 visitors, the Schleswig-Holstein Fire Service Museum is the most visited fire service museum in Germany certified by the International Fire Service Federation (CTIF). The permanent exhibition, spread over 2,300 square metres, showcases numerous exhibits dating back to times long past, illustrating the fascinating development of fire service history. A Baroque hand-operated fire pump from the 18th century, a steam fire engine from the 19th century and the fireboat HOECHST in the outdoor area are just three of the many impressive, rare and interesting exhibits that make a visit to the museum well worth it. In addition to the many fire engines, two model railway layouts complete the exhibition. The permanent collection highlights the development of preventive and reactive fire safety from technical and cultural-historical perspectives. The permanent collection is partially accessible. Major attractions include the museum festival with many activities in May, the large Christmas market featuring craftspeople in December, and the annual special exhibition.
The numerous highlights of the permanent collection make the tour well worth a visit, not just for collectors, firefighters and tour groups. For children, there is a lovely play area and a large fire brigade playground, making the museum a great day-out destination for the whole family.
Tipps
A visit to the Schleswig-Holstein Fire Brigade Museum can be combined with a visit to the ARRIBA water park or a visit to Norderstedt City Park. Another option is a visit to Hamburg, which lies to the south.

The museum includes the museum restaurant ‘KiM’s Norderstedt’ and an adjoining public boules court. ‘KiM’s Norderstedt’ is not a traditional restaurant, but rather an event venue with space for up to 80 people.
