Beschreibung
In the town museum in the "Alte Münze", one of the oldest and most beautiful buildings in Friedrichstadt, you can learn exciting facts about the history of the Dutch town.
The founding of the town, religious diversity and everyday life in different eras are presented in the modern exhibition on three levels.
You can also take a look inside the Mennonite Church, the place of worship of Friedrichstadt's smallest religious community.

In Friedrichstadt much of the original townscape is still intact. Houses with craw step gables, waterways in the midst of town and an orthogonal road network create the impression of a Dutch town

The museum is located in the city center, just a few steps away from the historic market square. The route is signposted.

Friedrichstadt has a parking guidance system and the old town is within walking distance of all parking lots and the train station.
By car from Hamburg: motorway A7, Rendsburger Kreuz (crossing) motorway BAB 210, then federal road B 202 in the direction of St. Peter Ording or the motorway A 23, from Heide use the federal roads B5 and B 202 to Friedrichstadt
By railway from Hamburg: route Hamburg-Westerland; from Kiel: Kiel-Husum, Husum-Hamburg

The museum is located in an old warehouse built in 1626 by the Duke’s governor. The people of Friedrichtsstadt believed they would be granted the right to mint coins, so they named the house “Münze” (coin). The museum focuses on the founding of the town, the religious communities who lived in Friedrichstadt, and everyday life.
