A museum opened in the former Elisabeth spa in 1989. It had been established by the chemist Klindwort with the support of the town. The emphasis is put on the natural history of the region and the history of Bad Schwartau. A significant till collection is presented. The manifold fauna of the region is documented with the aid of showcases and preserved animals. Other objects and records tell about the town’s development from a climatic health resort to an important iodine saline spa.
